Sky Vegas Mobile planned

Monday, September 21st, 2009

Online gambling software provider Wagerworks has implemented a mobile gambling solution for Brit interactive gambling operator Sky Vegas.

As part of an ongoing strategy of expansion, Sky will now offer WagerWorks games online, via interactive television and now mobile.

By utilising its Orbis back end system, Sky can offer players the ease of a single wallet solution, enabling players to use funds deposited online to play games on their mobile handsets.

The WagerWorks mobile solution provides Sky customers with the chance to play top titles such as Rainbow Riches, Ooh Aah Dracula R.I.Peater, Elvis Top 20 and Hi-5. Future mobile game releases from WagerWorks will include the top IGT title, Cleopatra, and popular brands such as Cluedo and Monopoly.

Simon Murphy, Head of Business Development at WagerWorks said, “This contract with Sky supports the similar strategies of both IGT and Sky to provide a fully integrated multi-channel package for players. Through integrating the WagerWorks mobile solution Sky now operates one of the most comprehensive interactive gaming options in the market, allowing their players to experience the same great games online, via interactive television and now mobile.”

Speaking for Sky, John Parsonage said, “We are delighted to offer Sky players the ability to play their favourite games where they want and when they want. With the addition of mobile gaming, WagerWorks has proved itself to be very forward thinking with its content and technology and it is a development which not only enhances the Sky package available, but works in line with our strategy.”

While all casinos showed a significant decline, the Trump Plaza showed the most severe decline at 29.6 per cent.

Error in calculation of accruals under incentive program

Monday, September 21st, 2009

The online gambling horseracing and betting company announced this week that it intends to restate its financial statements for the interim periods ended March 31 and June 30 for online casinos, to correct an error in the company’s calculation of accruals under its “Youbet Advantage” internet casinos player incentive program.

As a result, the historical financial statements for these periods should no longer be relied upon, the company stated.

Fixed odds game Stihima could offer a new dynamic next year

Thursday, September 3rd, 2009

The Greek casino gambling monopoly OPAP, arguably Europe’s largest betting firm, is considering the introduction of in-play betting on its fixed-odds Stihima casino game next year, its CEO Christos Hadjiemmanuil told an analysts’ conference on Wednesday.

According to a Reuters news agency report, Hadjiemmanuil said his company may offer in-play betting by the second-quarter of 2010 to take advantage of increased internet gambling betting activity during the World Soccer Cup.

“By the time of the World Cup, Stihima will not be played in the manner it is played now,” Hadjiemmanuil said. “Our intention is to eventually improve and enrich the product.”

Earlier this week, OPAP reported a 12 percent drop in net profit as competition from online bookie companies hurt sales.

Stihima, which is OPAP’s major sports betting game, has experienced strong growth in recent years but is now facing stiff competition from foreign Internet bookmakers, despite OPAP claims that online betting is illegal in Greece.

The firm would also offer higher odds on major events on Stihima, in yet another move to fight off online bookmakers, Hadjiemmanuil said.

The previous online gambling record dates from August 2007, when four ticket-holders from Maryland, New Jersey, Texas, and Virginia shared a $330 million Mega Millions jackpot.
